From 1968-2008 Helen Pugh lived in Manchester. Having gained a teaching qualification (Manchester Polytechnic, 1974) she taught art, delivering courses in a variety of settings including schools, the Adult Education Service and community groups. Following her BA (Hons) Embroidery degree (Manchester Metropolitan University, 1997) and alongside her continued practice as an artist, she worked as a visiting lecturer and speaker communicating her enthusiasm for drawing as well as providing study skills support for dyslexic students at the Art & Design faculty (MMU). Since settling in Tywyn, Gwynedd she has concentrated on writing and performing poetry and developing her art-practice, engaging with aspects of drawing, making and documentation in relation to place.
