Alison Lochhead works as a sculptor with a wide variety of materials; for example, clay, earth, stones, cast iron and metals. All the materials are subjected to heat – often very high temperatures – to transform themselves, to fuse, explode, tear each other apart or disappear altogether. The work emerges out of the fire. Collograph prints, using her own handmade paper and often three dimensional, complement Lochhead’s sculptures. She exhibits internationally in a wide variety of spaces. She lives on a farm in Ceredigion, Wales, where she has her workshop and iron foundry.
